Week: Gomphrena “Experimental”
The Plant of the
Week is an experimental Gomphrena (Buddy Purple) from Sakata. This “to be named
yet” four color series (Purple, Lavender, White and Bicolor) has been good all season
but has really taken off in the heat (I gave it a 5 this week http://www.metrolinagreenhouses.com/testgarden/8987.aspx). We had 15 of these in the
confidential garden 2011 and we helped Sakata select the best ones for garden
garden performance. This may be the series to re-launch this “old fashion”
plant!
